Key information

Use the right Red Deer utility form for starting, stopping or moving water and waste services. A move creates a new account number and needs new bank-payment arrangements.

How the service works

Start, stop and move forms serve different purposes. Select the correct task before entering dates, and check that both addresses match the city’s property search. The move form also asks whether the new occupant is an owner or tenant and whether a management company acts for an owner.

Keep the final reading and requested dates with the submission record. When the new account is issued, update online banking and set up the new withdrawal agreement if wanted. A service-address change does not automatically update every dog licence, permit or business record; use the form’s separate mailing-address choices.

Using the service

How should I enter an address?

Choose the property matching the form’s address search rather than leaving an unmatched typed address. Check current and new service addresses separately before submission.

Does the account number stay the same?

No. The city assigns a new account number when the service address changes. Each address has its own number, including when one customer has several properties.

Does my old automatic withdrawal move too?

No. The moving form requires a new PAWS arrangement for the new account. Update any bank payee account number as well; paying the old number does not identify the new service.

What charges does the form disclose?

A $32 application fee is due on the first bill. A $325 security deposit may apply depending on previous city payment history; an existing deposit can transfer to the new account.

Exceptions and help

Who should be listed on the account?

Add all owners or tenants who need account access. The city allows only named account holders to make enquiries or changes, so include additional holders at application time.

Can the mailing address differ from the service address?

Yes. The form has a different-mailing-address option and asks which related city accounts should be updated. Moving service and updating other municipal records are distinct choices.

What if I receive a meter-reading hang tag?

Call Utility Services at 403-342-8750 to arrange access. The FAQ says staff need to read and view the meter; an ordinary self-submitted reading is not a substitute for that visit.
