How the service works
Assessment value, municipal budget changes and the total bill are different figures. Red Deer’s 2026 notice includes municipal tax, provincial education tax and other requisitions. The 3.97% municipal change is not a promise that every owner’s total bill rises by that exact percentage.
Tax rolls belong to properties. Keep each property’s payment and MyCity registration separate, and review bank payees after a sale. A new owner’s Land Titles record can arrive after the sale, while the tax deadline still applies. Contact the city and the person handling the sale if the notice or settlement record is unclear.

Eligibility and local rules
When is regular property tax due?
The last business day of June unless the account is on the Tax Instalment Plan. Read the current notice; a payment must reach the account by the due date.

Which number goes into online banking?
The 11-digit tax roll number, using the City of Red Deer tax payee. Make a separate payment for each property; combining several rolls or paying another department can create transfer fees.

Can I pay tax by credit card at City Hall?
No. Tax counter payments accept cash, cheque or debit. This differs from the city utility counter’s credit-card options. Check the debit transaction limit before attending.

Using the service
Who can join TIP?
A registered owner with a current account and no prior-year arrears can apply. Link the tax account in MyCity, select pre-authorized withdrawal signup and complete the form. The annual application deadline is June 15.

When does TIP withdraw payment?
The last day of each month, or likely the next banking day if it falls on a weekend or holiday. Early-year amounts use previous taxes; June recalculates the remaining months after the new bill.

Must I reapply for TIP every year?
No. It automatically renews in January. But it does not move with the owner to a new property or additional property, so those need separate action.

How do I change banks or cancel TIP?
Use MyCity by the 15 thof the month. A property sale does not automatically cancel withdrawals. Submit the cancellation rather than relying on the ownership transfer.

Exceptions and help
What happens after returned TIP payments?
The page lists a $35 returned-payment fee and recalculated remaining withdrawals. A second returned payment in the same calendar year removes the account from TIP and makes the remaining balance due in full.

Why might a new owner not appear immediately?
The city receives Alberta Land Titles updates twice monthly, and the city warns processing there can take up to four months. The tax roll stays with the property. Ownership timing does not remove the tax due date.
What is different for a manufactured-home sale?
Send the signed Bill of Sale to the city and the manufactured-home park. The city does not receive that ownership change through Land Titles, so reporting it is the owner’s responsibility.
